Young People Don't Vote!

Recently a PSA has been posted and has gone viral across popular media platform. And has received much attention from newscasts making it a popular topic. The PSA was created to encourage young people to hopefully vote during the 2018 Midterm.

After viewing this interesting PSA. I was confused about the message the PSA was trying to put out there but from watching it a few more times, I was able to receive the message they are sending to the youth. Elderly white people are taunting young Americans and encouraging them to hopefully vote during the election. The PSA had a strange but quite a creative way of spreading their message around, by getting elderly white actors to say that rich, Donald Trump supporters will be out during the election in numbers, the elderly Trump supporters speak about why they voted Republican and the benefits they gain from it.

 The elderly trump supporters talk about the changes Trump will be making and how it supports them: "Tax cuts for the rich? Hell yeah, I'm rich as f**k... Climate change? That's a 'you' problem. I'll be dead soon." Taunting the younger audience by letting them know that they never vote, every year they will be there to vote but they never will. 

 Research has shown that younger generations will make up the majority of eligible voters for the midterms, but they are unlikely to actually cast the majority of votes. The ad was made to manipulate younger people into voting during the midterm elections, by having elderly people talk about these global issues that are not a concern to them since they are gonna 'die' soon. The conclusion of the ad was to hopefully get the younger generation to vote against Trump to prevent these future changes from happening.

Is everything we see and read on social real or telling the truth? Fake news, such a common thing to come upon when browsing around on any type of platform on social media. It's difficult to identify what you are reading or viewing is real or just fake, unless you do a background check on the subject. People use and create fake news because they find it an easy way to get clicks and trick people into reading their article.
