Is everything we see and read on social real or telling the truth? Fake news, such a common thing to come upon when browsing around on any type of platform on social media. It's difficult to identify what you are reading or viewing is real or just fake, unless you do a background check on the subject. People use and create fake news because they find it an easy way to get clicks and trick people into reading their article. I myself when reading an article doesn't consider to check the author or the source they used, I never considered that what I am reading is telling the truth or faking it just for clicks.

After learning more about fake news, I have discovered the advantages of creating fake news and how to identify fake news. Some benefits from creating fake news are that most people read their news online now using their devices, newspapers usually only contain facts and real news, unlike the internet, anything you read could be fake trying to get you to believe that it's real and true. I have recently learned how to identify and spot fake news and I thought it would be nice to share with my readers. First off, when reading an article you want to be sure that it is real and not fake, to do so figure out who the author is of the article and see if they are a reliable source. Some authors are easy to identify if they are well known as a person and for their articles, especially if they are suggested by others as a reliable source. You can as well consider the source they used to create the article, is the source they used real or reliable itself? Investigate the site, look at the websites mission and contact info, it will give you some sort of idea of what the website is like and the kind of info they put on their website. When reading an article read the whole story, see if the story relates to their headline of the article. Some headlines are created to intrigue online users to click on their article as they may find the headline interesting but do the story relates at all towards it? Is the article you are reading just a repost? Check the date of the story see if the article presents today news. Some articles are reposted that don't relate to current events making it old news and a way to get website clicks. You can consult with an expert about the story to help you identify if it is fake news or not. Lastly, check your biases, based on your own beliefs can affect your judgment of the site and can identify if the article is real or fake to you.
